Managing Agent DNS Reservations
DNS Reservations in the Customers Network
DNS reservations are a method that allows a roaming IP Address for devices and provides static access.
The reservation system relies on device MAC ID's to be mapped to the roaming IP Address.
The customer takes care of this.
When the Agent is setup, the customers internal DNS is entered in the Appliance Setup.
This entry tells the agent to use the customers DNS for lookup when a name is entered for the asset.
The Agent will use the customers DNS to perform a name lookup for the asset. The assets ip address is no longer relevant.
